My 10 year old son and I had to live in this hotel due to an unfortunate private rental housing issue (bad landlord, poor and dangerous state of rented property) We were sent to a different hotel at first but it was completely horrendous and inappropriate so were relocated here and immediately, as soon as we walked through the door at around 8pm we were made to feel welcome & comfortable which was extremely important to me considering the situation we were in and the previous hotel we'd come from! We were given the key and shown to the room. The staff couldn't do enough for us! The room was lovely and clean, with all of the amenities you'd want! (All of which were absent in the first hotel we stayed in) the ensuite bathroom/shower was an impressive size ! & was again, lovely and clean! very well lit with help from the large mirror which had bulbs all around it. There's lifts that actually work! to help those who can't manage the stairs or just as a safety aspect for carrying your luggage. There's 24 hour reception assistance and there's also an in-house restaurant serving breakfast and dinner and there's a separate room which I believe serves alcohol (I didn't use this room so I'm not entirely sure) The hotel is directly opposite Stoke train station and you're in close proximity to many of the Cities towns, so it's in a really good location for 'getting around' .. the University is just around the corner, literally the next street.. and the college is also nearby! We were here for approximately 6 weeks and the service never wavered! Really happy.

I have stayed here around 7 times and its the best hotel and best service I have ever got. It looks incredible.inside and out. The receptionist always printed out anything I needed. I will definitely stay here again and so will everyone I recommended it to.

We stayed for 2 nights to visit Alton Towers this weekend. It was a bargain price and I wasn't expecting great things. But it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Yes the hotel rooms are a bit dated and worn in places, but the place was spotlessly cleaned with immaculate bedding and towels. The beds were firm and comfy and the room was relatively quiet. The staff were friendly and courteous. For a short stay it was ideal and if I had to fault anything it would be that the wifi in the rooms isn't free. Apart from that I'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed one night to be near a medical appt for my daughter the next morning, saving us a 2 hour drive. Staff were very pleasant and helpful during our stay. Rooms were large and comfortable. We booked a double room, but this was so much bigger than any double I've stayed in before. Yes it's an older hotel, but it was kept to a high standard of cleanliness. It had a cosy feel about it too. Just what we needed.

Good value and clean rooms. Pros: Convenient location in front of train station and by university. Adequately comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Kettle in room. Cons: Definitely an air of faded glory. The space between the hotel and the station is frequented by transient folk, which can be unnerving. However, we didn’t have any problems.

Arrived yesterday first impression great looking old style building. Got keys went to my room it was on first floor at back but had as far as I can tell pipes from kitchen making a loud whirring sound asked it it stops later man at reception was not sure so had a look with me. He then offered me another room another floor up I checked this room first not furnished as good and not been updated but it was quiet and as a bonus got a great view in the morning sunrise. Wifi in hotel there are there are two versions both Virgin one in lounge is free very slow or you can pay for the other don’t know what this version is like. Food so far there is plenty good choice for all tastes will add pictures soon. Breakfast Tuesday morning great so far. No much choice for continental start just corn flakes, weetabix some more choice in extras like cut fruits and yogurts. Good choice of cooked breakfast bacon sausages hash browns etc. Tonight Tuesday dinner was ok not fully great soup was mixed veg little bit lumpy and no taste shame usually like veg soup. Main was chicken, sausages in gravy etc like curly fries chips roast potatoes etc. Or you can have fish and other as before. Pudding I had apple pie and cream got a large piece of apple pie very good size save goes with other cakes on offer. Staff so far are very helpful friendly try there best to help was told this morning we was having room service when we got back room not touched had to go to reception to get tea milk etc as none left. Wednesday slept ok mattress a bit lumpy with springs. Breakfast bacon was very dry hard to eat eggs were fine today sausages not great but edible if you want one. Evening meal was better today even gave a menu to show what’s on offer this time I just had a pie and chips. Thursday sleep the same breakfast the same bacon hard again. Dinner was better not sure it it was main manager was in woman served us food today not self serve dinner was much better veg cooked better soup was good as well had to grab pudding as once gone there is no choice later to pick from. Filled up my water bottle again from ice cold supply also saw others copy today. Yesterday also dining room was dark with some bulbs switched of strange it was fully on today. My Breakfast conclusion is bacon was better at start of week and now is hard to eat, sausages some times look good other days not so good, only got corn flakes or weetabix and yogurt and some fruit. My dining room conclusion is food is good, not great some days better are better than others good value on the cheap. Can’t say about all rooms my first was noisy with kitchen fans on all the time, so got moved to another room a floor up second floor at back much better and quieter so far. Have heard other have had same kitchen fan noise and they are on second floor. On the other hand have heard if room is at front facing train station the noise outside at night till late from people outside is not pleasant and they said did not get much sleep. Last day tomorrow last breakfast. Friday has arrived finished packing case, then breakfast this was ok today some bacon hard and some soft eggs cooked with soft middle. No peaches today some other fruit and small amount of yoghurt. Friendly staff shame they can’t keep up with there work. Ok final review of hotel we have been to much worse if you look at other reviews of mine. Hotel could be much better if they fix small problems around it. There clean in restaurant try to cook well but end up over cooking. Puddings run out quick so grab one early. Rooms need better mattresses as springs stick in whilst sleeping. Duvet cover is poor and strange. Also only one small lift for a large building.

Opposite train station and on site car park (£5 over night) suited us for a couple if nights. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food. Has a lift. Reception Staff could have been a bit more helpful and smiled! Room was warm, clean, comfortable bed (carpet was worn and could do with a clean) Bathroom had shower and plenty of hot water (flaky paint on ceiling, taps well worn, toilet flush was hit or miss at times) Saying all this as they are cosmetic. Perfect place to walk where we needed to go. Loud music below on last night, and lots of children running around. If you not concerned about deco this would be perfect for you.

I stayed at the North Stafford Hotel in April for a few days, for work. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. All of the staff were extremely friendly and professional. My room was very clean, spacious, and in excellent condition. The location was perfect for me - after a 3 and a half hour train journey from the North-East of England, the hotel was just opposite the train station, making it more than convenient. It was also less than a five minute walk from my venue (Staffordshire University). The bedsheets, pillows, drawers, carpets, dressing table, mirrors, wardrobes, TV, remote, and bedside tables were all clean and spotless. I appreciated that my room had a hairdryer in the drawer, and also a kettle, and a choice of teas and coffees. The wardrobes were spacious and I had more than enough room to hang all my clothes. The bathroom was also very clean, and I had had an ample supply of hot water each day and night. The lock on the door was also secure, giving me peace of mind when I went out each day. The only suggestion I could make is offering free Wi-Fi in the rooms.
